He is the author of at least 37 plays, 154 sonnets and two long narrative poems. His plays are performed worldwide and have been translated into over 80 languages. Despite his fame, much about William Shakespeare is a mystery – we do not know his exact date of birth, and there are seven years of his life in which there is no trace of his existence in historical records.
